Blessed Are the Persecuted: Standing Strong for What's Right

oday, we wrap up the Be Attitudes from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount with a powerful lesson from Matthew 5:10: “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.” Have you ever been left out or made fun of for doing the right thing?

For Parents

Today closes our Beatitudes walk with Matthew 5:10, blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness. Pastor Justin names the lonely feeling kids know well, being left out or made fun of for doing right. He explains that standing up for love and truth puts us right alongside Jesus, who was treated badly for the same. The episode coaches kids to stay kind and ask Jesus for strength instead of striking back. Ask your child why doing right is a blessing even when it is hard.

The One Thing for the Ride

Questions Kids Ask

Why does Jesus say we are blessed when people are unkind for doing the right thing?

Being persecuted means people treat you unfairly because you did the right thing or followed Jesus (Matthew 5:10). Jesus says you are blessed in those moments because you are living just like He did, and the kingdom of heaven is yours. When it happens, you can ask Him for strength and still choose to stay kind.
