About Pastor Justin
Justin Herman is the creator and host of Carpooling with Jesus, a daily 5-minute devotional podcast for kids and families. He serves as Online Pastor at Mariners Church, a non-denominational church based in Orange County, California, where he leads Mariners Online, the church's online congregation, from his home in Goodyear, Arizona. He has been married to Brittany since 2013, and they are raising four kids together.
Carpooling with Jesus started on a normal morning drive when the kids devotional his family pressed play on missed the moment families actually have together. Justin spent the next several months building what he wished existed: a short, Scripture-anchored devotional built for the school run, the kitchen table, and the ten minutes before bed. The first episode published on January 6, 2025. Today the lineup includes five shows across three feeds: the daily Carpooling with Jesus, the bedtime Goodnight Psalms, the monthly Carpooling with Heroes of the Bible, and the bonus series What Should I Do If and Questions from the Backseat.
The mission is simple. Help parents disciple their kids in the real, unscripted moments families already share. The voice is warm, direct, and conversational. The theology is Christ-centered and Scripture-grounded, using the Christian Standard Bible. Carpool Crew families across the country listen daily, and the show is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and every major podcast platform.

What Families Say
Pull-quotes
“Carpooling with Jesus gets my kids engaged with the Bible and Jesus, but helps us adults learn too. My husband prefers it to some “adult” devotionals.”

“We listen every morning on the way to school. Not only is it great for my 9-year-old but also for me as a teacher. A sweet quick dose of Jesus to start the day.”

Road Trip
Boilerplate · select and copy
Road Trip is a family driving game from Carpooling with Jesus. Players steer a colorful van to twelve destinations, dodging obstacles and collecting Courage Stars, and every trip ends with a short truth and a family question. It is deliberately different from most kids’ games: no ads, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no tracking, and no data collection of any kind, and it is designed to be easy to put down rather than engineered to keep children hooked. It is a one-time $1.99 purchase on the App Store.

Story angles
- A pastor with four kids taught himself to build an iPhone game, because he could not find one he trusted to hand them.
- A kids’ game with nothing to warn parents about: no ads, no purchases, no tracking, no data collected at all.
- “Built to be put down.” An anti-addiction game in a category engineered for the opposite, with a truth and a family question at the end of every trip.
