Hey, carpool crew. I am so excited for today because we are talking about Christmas. Yeah, Christmas. It's one of my favorite holidays, it's really important to Christians, and today we're gonna talk about why. I'm Pastor Justin, I'm so glad you're here. Can you believe that Thanksgiving is over and Christmas really is right around the corner? Maybe your tree is already up, or maybe your family is just starting to pull out the decorations and lights, but before the presents and cookies and Christmas carols take over, I wanna stop and talk about something that's really important, why Christmas matters so much. Especially for Christians. This is what it says in the book of Luke, chapter two, verse 11. For today, in the city of David, a savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke, if you remember, was a doctor and a historian. He did a ton of research and put together what we know as the Book of Luke in the New Testament. Matthew, Mark, Luke. It's the third book, and that verse comes from the Christmas story when angels told shepherds that Jesus had been born in Bethlehem, and that moment, it changed everything. For hundreds of years before Jesus was born, people were waiting for God to send a savior. Someone who would bring peace, forgiveness, and hope to the whole world. When Jesus was born, it wasn't just a baby in a manger, it was God coming to be with us. That's actually what the name Emmanuel means. God with us. Christmas isn't just a celebration of a birthday, it's a celebration of God keeping his promise. You know how important it is to keep a promise, right? You probably want promises kept when they're made to you, and you should be someone who also keeps their promises. So this was a moment where God was the one who is keeping his promise. He sent Jesus to rescue us, to show us love, and to bring light into a very dark world. If Jesus were sitting right next to you in the car or at the breakfast table, I'd think he'd smile and say, that's why I came, to be close to you. I love you so much that I left heaven to be part of your life now, then, and forever. That's why Christmas is such a big deal, because it reminds us that Jesus chose to come near to us, to leave heaven, come to earth, and live as a human being, 100% God and 100% man. It's an incredible moment. Have you ever had someone show up for you when you needed it most? Maybe you fell off your bike and a friend helped you up, or you were sad and someone gave you a hug. That's what Jesus did, but in the biggest, most amazing way possible. He didn't just shout from heaven, I love you. He came here and proved it. Every light you see, every carol you hear, every gift you give, all of it can remind you that Jesus came to give us the greatest gift of all. Himself. So as your family gets ready for Christmas, find a way each day to remember why it's special. When you see Christmas lights, say, Jesus is the light of the world. When you open a present on Christmas Day, say, thank you, God, for the greatest gift, Jesus, because Christmas isn't just fun. It's not just about gifts. It's not just about cookies. It's about Jesus, the greatest gift of all. So remember, no matter where you are or how you're listening, God loves you.
