Jesus Gives Us Joy That Stays

I’m Pastor Justin, and I’m so glad you’re here as we keep moving through Advent toward Christmas.

For Parents

Mondays can feel heavy for kids, tired, back to routine, wishing for a few more minutes of sleep. This episode meets your child there with John 15:11, where Jesus, in his final conversation with his friends, describes joy as a gift he gives rather than something we have to chase. The practical steps are doable: ask Jesus for his joy, look for one good thing on purpose, and remember who joy comes from. Tonight, ask your child where they've seen Jesus' joy show up lately.

The One Thing for the Ride

The joy Jesus gives is a gift that stays steady, even on a hard Monday, because it comes from him and not from our circumstances.

Questions Kids Ask

How can I have joy even on a hard Monday?

On the night before the cross, Jesus told his closest friends he was giving them his joy so their joy would be complete (John 15:11). That means joy is a gift from him, not something we have to hunt for, so it does not break just because your morning is rough or your alarm went off too early. Kids can ask Jesus for his joy, look for one good thing on purpose, and remember that steady joy comes from him and not from a perfect day.
