Hey, Carpool Crew! It's day fifteen of Proverbs for Your School Life, halfway through the month! And today we're talking about the little stuff that comes at you all day long... the heel step in the hallway, the pencil that comes back chewed, the kid who cuts you at the water fountain. I'm Pastor Justin, and before we jump in, let me give a big shout-out to Wilder and HaddieReese out in Georgia. So glad you're riding with us today. And this episode is all about the small stuff that tries to steal your day. We've all been there. Let's jump in with the one thing I want you to remember for the ride: let the little stuff slide. In Proverbs 19:11 it says, "A person's insight gives him patience, and his virtue is to overlook an offense." Overlook is a fancy way of saying you saw it, and you decided to let it go anyway. Yesterday we talked about the big temper moments. The small stuff comes at you way more often. And notice what Solomon connects. Patience comes from insight. Letting something go isn't weak, it's smart. The kid who overlooks the heel step isn't pretending it didn't happen. He already knows something: not every little thing deserves a piece of his day. Every offense you pick up, you have to carry. Jesus told His followers that if somebody slaps your cheek, you can turn the other one. He never said the offense didn't happen. He said you get to decide what it costs you. If Jesus were next to you at the water fountain, He would say, "You could make this a thing. You'd even be right. Or you could let it go and keep your whole afternoon. I'll help you drop it." You're in line at the water fountain after PE, dying of thirst, and a kid slides in front of you like you're invisible. You could tap his shoulder and open the case. Witnesses, evidence, the whole courtroom. Or you could wait the extra eight seconds, get your drink, and head to class with your day still yours. Eight seconds. That's what the whole thing actually cost. So today, here's the one thing you could try. Pick one small annoying thing and let it slide without making it a big deal. Not the big stuff. The little stuff. And if somebody notices and asks about it, borrow this line: "It's not a big deal. We're good." Saying it out loud makes it true twice. Hey, let's go back to that one thing I wanted you to remember for the ride. Let the little stuff slide. Remember, no matter where you are or how you're listening, God loves you. And parents, if this podcast has been helpful for your family, would you take 30 seconds and leave a rating or review? It helps more families find it, and it really does make a difference. And tomorrow on What Should I Do If Wednesday, for our Carpooling with Jesus+ family: what to do when you said something you can't take back. Hey, before you go, let's answer this question together. What's one little thing that bugged you this week that you could have let slide? I'll see you tomorrow on Carpooling with Jesus.
