Pray Like You Believe It: Talking to God with Faith

Hey, Carpool Crew! I'm Pastor Justin, and whether you're in the car on the way to school, finishing up breakfast, or just getting your day started, I'm really glad you're here today. Alright, here's your One Thing for the ride: praying with faith means trusting God with your whole heart, even when you don't know what he's going to do. Our verse today comes from Mark 11:24. It says: 'Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.' That's a big statement. So what does Jesus actually mean? Is he saying we just ask for anything and we automatically get it? Not exactly. Let's break it down. Jesus is teaching us that prayer is not just about saying words. It's about trust. It's about believing that when you talk to God, he hears you. He cares. And he's going to respond in the best way possible. Even if that answer looks different than what you expected. If Jesus were sitting next to you right now, I think he'd say something like this: 'My friend, I love when you talk to me. I hear every prayer. I'm working in ways you can't always see. You can trust me, even when you don't understand the answer yet.' That's the heart of it. Prayer is not about getting your way. It's about trusting God's way. Now imagine this. You're about to take a test you feel totally unprepared for. Or maybe you're worried about a friend. Or something at school just feels off. So you pray. 'God, please help.' And in that moment, you don't have all the answers. But you choose to believe: God hears me. God is with me. God is working. That's what it means to pray with faith. Let me tell you something from my own life. There was a time I prayed really hard for something. I believed it was going to happen exactly the way I wanted. And then it didn't. And honestly, I was confused. I thought, 'God, I trusted you. Why didn't this work out?' But later, I could see it. God wasn't ignoring me. He was doing something better than I had asked for. Something I couldn't see at the time. That's the part we don't always like. Faith means trusting God even when the answer is yes, no, or not yet. So here's how this plays out for you today: first, talk to God about everything. Nothing is too small or too big. Second, believe that he hears you. You're not talking into the air. Third, trust his answer, even if it's different than what you wanted. Because God always sees the bigger picture.
