What Did Jesus Do When He Was a Kid?

Hey Carpool Crew, welcome back to Questions from the Backseat. Today's question is so good. What did Jesus do when He was a kid like me? Here's the answer. Jesus was a real kid with chores, friends, and a family. He gets your life because He actually lived one. Luke 2:52 says, "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people." That's a fancy way of saying Jesus grew up like a regular kid. He got taller and smarter and better at stuff. He had to learn things, listen to His parents, and wait His turn. We don't have a ton of details about Jesus' childhood, but we know some things. He grew up in a small town called Nazareth, with a mom named Mary and an earthly dad named Joseph who was a carpenter. So Jesus probably learned to work with wood. He probably got splinters and hammered His thumb sometimes. He had brothers and sisters, so He knew about sibling stuff. He went to the synagogue, which was kind of like His version of church. He prayed, memorized Scripture, and helped around the house. He got tired. He got hungry. He laughed. Here's why this matters. Jesus is not a far-away God who doesn't get you. He was a kid. He knows what it's like to be told what to do, to be young and not in charge, and to grow up. Here's your One Thing today. Jesus knows your life because He's lived a kid life too. Today, when something feels hard about being a kid, talk to Jesus about it. He gets it.
