Scared of Getting Lost? What Jesus Would Say

Hey, Carpool Crew. Maybe you've gotten turned around in the store before, or maybe you're just feeling a little unsure about where life is headed. You're young. You have a lot of life ahead. I'm Pastor Justin. I'm so glad you're here. This month we're talking about the things that scare us, and today we're tackling one that's both real and emotional. What if I get lost? I've been lost before. I know what it feels like. Luke chapter 19, verse 10 has a great verse: 'The Son of Man has come to seek and save the lost.' Now, Jesus said this after talking with a man named Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus had made a lot of mistakes and most people thought he wasn't worth saving. You might remember the story of Zacchaeus. He's the short man that climbed the very tall tree. But Jesus saw him, found him, he cared for Zacchaeus. And he says the same thing to us. 'I came to find you. I came to rescue you.' Whether you're physically lost like in a store or on a hike, or spiritually lost (you're confused about what you believe, you don't really know who God is, you have questions), Jesus is a finder. He seeks. He saves. And he leads us back. Now, if Jesus saw you panicking because you couldn't find your way, looking for mom and dad, and you were getting really nervous, he might say, 'You're not alone. Stay calm. I see you, and I'm gonna help you.' Now, let's say you get separated from your family at a store. Your heart starts racing. You're looking everywhere, and you start calling out, 'Mom! Dad!' Nothing. But then there's your mom or dad reaching for your hand. That's relief. That's what Jesus gives every time you feel lost. So what can you do today? First, remember that Jesus is always looking out for you, even if you're physically lost, just nervous, and you need to calm down. Jesus is there for you. Or maybe you're spiritually lost. You have questions about who God is. You have questions about faith. Jesus is there to help you find the way. If you feel unsure or stuck, just pray: 'Jesus, lead me. Jesus, I need to hear from you.' And lastly, trust that no matter how lost you feel, Jesus knows exactly where you are and he knows what you're going through. Remember, no matter where you are or how you're listening, God loves you.
