Hey, Carpool Crew. Welcome to Carpooling with Jesus. I'm Pastor Justin. Happy Friday. I hope you have an incredible weekend ahead. Now, you know when three kids in your class go home sick, and now you keep swallowing to check if your throat hurts? I've been there once or twice. Now, let's jump in with the one thing I want you to remember for the ride: God gives you enough for today. Okay, listen to this from 1 Kings 17:16, "The flour jar did not become empty and the oil jug did not run dry, according to the word of the Lord, he had spoken through Elijah." Now, here's what's going on. There's no rain, so there's no food. And God sends Elijah to a town to a widow who's gathering sticks. Now, she had a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug, and she was about to make one last meal for herself and her son. Elijah tells her, "Don't be afraid." He says, "Make me a small loaf first, and then make some for you and your son." Because God says the flour jar won't become empty and the oil jug won't run dry until the rain comes back. So she does, and the Bible says the three of them ate for many days. The jar didn't run out. This is a really meaningful story to Pastor Justin. My mom was a single mom, too, just like the mom in this story, and we would read this story together when I was a kid, and it was one of the stories that my mom used to teach me that God will provide for us. Now, see what the verse here doesn't say? It doesn't say the jar got full. She never opened the lid and found a giant pile in there. Every day there was enough for that day, and every day, that was enough. Now, here's what fear does. It makes you check tomorrow over and over. Your throat's fine. Your stomach's fine. Check again. Fear wants a full jar before it will ever let you rest. God gives you today. Now, I'll be honest, sometimes you do get sick. That's real. I've been sick before, and I am the worst sick person on planet Earth. I will whine, I will complain, and I will stay in bed. I'm just being honest. But if a hard day does come for you, God will be in that day too with you, just like He's in it with me. Maybe for you it's getting sick. Maybe it's worrying about the test next week. Maybe it's a move that's coming up or a big game. Or whether your friend will still be your friend next year. Hey, this week, here's something that I want you to try. Check once out loud, then stop. Right now, today, I'm okay. Say it one time, not 11. Then say, "God, you'll give me enough for tomorrow when it gets here." This is so good for us, Carpool Crew, and honestly, it's great for adults too. So let's go back to the one thing I wanted you to remember for the ride. God gives you enough for today. Remember, no matter where you are or how you're listening, God loves you. And parents, real quick, tomorrow on Carpooling with Jesus, we're on lucky socks, and all the stuff kids believe has power over how their day goes. And Sunday, we're on the substitute teacher, and the Sunday night your kid spends carrying a Monday around with them. For less than the cost of a fast food meal a month, your kid could be a subscriber on Carpooling with Jesus. You can subscribe on Apple Podcast or Spotify. I hope you consider it. Now before you go, let's answer this question together. What do you keep checking on and what have you only checked once? I think of my fantasy football team and my son's fantasy football team for that one. I'll see you tomorrow or next Monday on Carpooling With Jesus.
