Thankful for God's Plan When the Future Feels Uncertain
Sometimes we’re excited about what’s ahead — a game, a trip, or something fun — but other times the future can feel uncertain or even a little scary.
For Parents
New schools, hard family seasons, and the simple unknown of tomorrow can make a child anxious. This episode brings that worry to Jeremiah 29:11 and the story behind it: God's people far from home in Babylon, wondering if He had forgotten them, hearing God say He had a good plan. It uses a puzzle with the box top taken away to show that God sees the whole picture even when we can't. At home, ask your child what they're nervous about and pray a short thank-you to God in advance for being with them. Naming the worry and handing it to God helps a child loosen their grip on it.
The One Thing for the Ride
“Even when the future feels uncertain, God already knows what's coming and His plans for us are good, so we can thank Him in advance.”

Key Takeaways
- Jeremiah 29:11 was spoken to God's people in exile, far from home and afraid God had forgotten them.
- God didn't promise they'd understand the plan, He asked them to trust that it was good.
- Like a puzzle with the box top removed, we don't see the whole picture but God does.
- Gratitude can come before the answer: thanking God for what He will do, not just what He has done.

Questions Kids Ask
What does the Bible say about trusting God with the future?
Even when the future feels uncertain, God already knows what is coming and his plans for us are good. The Bible says God knows the plans he has for us, plans for our wellbeing and not for disaster, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). He first said this to his people while they were far from home in Babylon, and it reminds us we do not have to be afraid of tomorrow because God is already there.
