Two Are Better Than One

Hey, Carpool Crew! Happy Tuesday. I'm Pastor Justin, and before we jump in, let me give a big shout-out to Weston from Pearland, Texas. So glad you are with us today. And this episode is about what a real friend actually does. Not just somebody to sit with, but somebody who has your back when things go sideways. You know that feeling when you trip in front of everybody, and one person breaks away from the crowd to help you up while everybody else just laughs? Yeah. That person is gold. Let's jump in with the one thing I want you to remember for the ride: a good friend helps you back up, and you can be that friend for someone. Listen to this from Ecclesiastes 4. It says, "Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up." Falling is not the sad part in that verse. Falling alone is. The person who wrote this had tried doing life all by himself and figured out it does not work. We were built to have a hand reaching down when we hit the ground. Here is the part that lands. A best friend is not the one with the coolest stuff or the funniest jokes. It is the one who notices you fell and comes back for you. If Jesus were sitting next to you right now, He would lean over and say, "I never meant for you to do the hard stuff alone. I put people around you on purpose, and I made you to be that person for somebody too." It is the playground. A kid biffs it going for the ball, tripping in front of everyone, and their face goes red. Most kids look away. You do not. You jog over, put out a hand, and say, "I got you." That one move can turn the worst moment of their day into the one they remember. Hey, this week, try these two things. First, be a back-up-getter. When you see somebody fall, mess up, or drop their stuff, be the one who helps instead of the one who laughs. Second, thank a friend who has done that for you. A good friend is worth telling. Hey, let's go back to that one thing I wanted you to remember for the ride. A good friend helps you back up, and you can be that friend for someone. Remember, no matter where you are or how you're listening, God loves you. And parents, you probably know another family who could use a little encouragement this week.
