Waiting with Hope: Preparing Your Heart for Jesus

I’m Pastor Justin, and today we’re learning about something that’s not easy — waiting.

For Parents

Waiting is hard for kids, especially in a season full of countdowns and gifts under the tree. This episode opens up Isaiah 40:3 and the call to prepare the way for the Lord, helping your child see waiting as heart-preparing time rather than wasted time. It offers simple ways to use the wait well, like prayer, Scripture, and honest questions. Tonight, ask your child what they're waiting for right now and talk together about how to trust God in the meantime.

The One Thing for the Ride

Waiting isn't a waste of time or a pause in the story; it's part of the story, and God uses it to shape our hearts and draw us closer to Him.

Questions Kids Ask

How can I prepare my heart for Jesus during Advent?

Waiting is not a waste of time or a pause in the story, it is part of the story, and God uses it to shape our hearts. Isaiah told the people to prepare the way of the Lord, which meant getting their hearts ready, not building an actual road (Isaiah 40:3), and John the Baptist echoed those same words before Jesus began his ministry. While you wait for Christmas, you can be patient, pray, and let God draw you closer to him, because waiting is really heart time.
