Your kid is going to see another kid get picked on this year, probably at lunch or on the bus, and freeze, unsure what to do. This bonus episode gives them four concrete, doable steps to be the brave one who steps in instead of walking past, grounded in Proverbs 31:9. It also answers the question every parent asks: standing up never means starting a fight. 1. Do not join in and do not just watch.
  2. Go stand with the kid who is being picked on.
  3. Speak up if it is safe, then walk away together.
  4. Always tell a trusted adult, because telling to keep someone safe is not tattling.

Questions Kids Ask

What should I do if I see someone getting bullied?

When you see another kid getting picked on, it takes real guts to step in while the crowd does nothing, and looking away leaves that kid all alone in the worst moment of their day. God calls you to be the brave one, because the Bible says, "Speak up for those who have no voice... defend the cause of the oppressed and needy" (Proverbs 31:8-9). Standing up never means fighting, it means getting the kid out of there, telling a trusted adult, and being a friend, and your courage comes from knowing God stands with you.
