Bold Like Peter: Stepping Out in Faith
Today is a special day — it’s my son’s ninth birthday, and he’s one bold BMX racer!
For Parents
This one started with a birthday at our house and a kid who is fearless on a BMX bike. Pastor Justin connects that boldness to Peter stepping out of the boat onto the water in Matthew 14. The big idea is gentle and freeing for kids: being brave does not mean you never feel afraid, it means you trust God enough to take the step anyway. It also honors the quieter kids, reminding every child that God made them on purpose, for a purpose.
The One Thing for the Ride
“Being bold means trusting God enough to take the step even when you are scared, keeping your eyes on Jesus.”
Scripture
Matthew 14:29

Questions Kids Ask
What does Peter walking on water teach kids about being bold?
When Jesus said 'come,' Peter climbed out of the boat in the middle of a storm and actually walked on the water toward him (Matthew 14:29). Being bold does not mean you are never scared, it means you trust God enough to take the step anyway while keeping your eyes on Jesus. Peter did the impossible as long as he stayed focused on Jesus, and God can use your boldness for him too, just the way he made you.
