God's Way of Helping You Grow Through Pruning
Whether you’re zipping up your backpack, hopping into the carpool van, or munching on cereal at the table — I’m Pastor Justin, and I’m so glad you’re here.
For Parents
This episode opens the vine and branches series with John 15:2 and the picture of pruning. Pastor Justin explains that cutting back a plant actually helps it grow stronger, and God does the same with us out of love. He gently names things that might need pruning, a complaining attitude, too much screen time, an unhealthy habit, and reminds kids that God isn't taking good things away but making room for something better. Tender and hopeful, never scolding.
The One Thing for the Ride
“God lovingly prunes away the things that get in the way so your faith can grow even stronger.”

Questions Kids Ask
What does it mean that God prunes us to help us grow?
Pruning looks like cutting a plant back, but it actually helps it grow stronger and produce more fruit, and God lovingly does the same with us. Jesus said God prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce more fruit (John 15:2), which sometimes means letting go of a bad attitude, a distraction, or an unhealthy habit that gets in the way. Pruning is not always fun, but God is gentle and does it because he wants to make room for something even better in you.
