Hey, Carpool Crew! It's day eight of Proverbs for Your School Life, our week about words. And today we're talking about that moment when you finally do the awesome thing... two goals at practice, an A on the test... and the announcement starts bouncing around your chest, begging to get out. I'm Pastor Justin, and before we jump in, let me give a big shout-out to Carson, Anderson, and Josie out in Lexington, Kentucky. Carson, Anderson, and Josie, a triple shout-out, how about that. Glad you're in the carpool today. And this episode is all about the itch to brag on yourself. We've all felt it. Let's jump in with the one thing I want you to remember for the ride: let someone else brag on you. Listen to this from Proverbs 27:2. "Let another praise you, and not your own mouth, a stranger, and not your own lips." Solomon's not saying the awesome thing didn't happen. He's saying you're not the one who has to announce it. A trophy you hand yourself and a trophy somebody walks over and puts in your hands are the same trophy. Only one of them means something. Bragging grabs the microphone. Letting somebody else pick it up is a different kind of strong. If Jesus were sitting next to you in the back seat after practice, He would say, "I saw both goals. I love that you're letting them do the talking. My Father sees every single thing nobody claps for." It's Tuesday practice and you score twice. The whole ride home, the announcement is bouncing in your chest. You let it sit. You just say practice was good. Then Thursday at pickup, your coach walks over to your dad and says, "Your kid has been on fire this week." And your dad's grin in the rearview mirror beats any brag you could have made yourself. It came from somebody else's mouth. That's exactly why it landed. So today, here's the one thing you could try. Do one genuinely good thing and tell nobody. Stack your brother's shoes by the door. Wipe down the table before anyone asks. When the itch to announce it shows up, borrow these words and say them quietly: "God saw it. That's enough." The kid who needs everyone to know is chasing claps. The kid who doesn't is building something better. Hey, let's go back to that one thing I wanted you to remember for the ride. Let someone else brag on you. Remember, no matter where you are or how you're listening, God loves you. And parents, a reminder that Goodnight Psalms is free for everybody all week.
