How Come Everybody Else Seems Brave and I'm Not?
For Parents
Your kid is comparing their inside to everybody else's outside, and losing. This one names it directly: everybody in that room is hiding something, they are just the only one who knows what they are hiding. It points at Elijah calling fire down in front of a whole crowd and sitting under a bush a day later, same guy, same week. Ask them to tell one safe grown-up one true sentence.
The One Thing for the Ride
“Everybody in that room is hiding something. You're just the only one who knows what you're hiding.”
Scripture
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
CSB
Key Takeaways
- Ecclesiastes says if either falls. Not if the weak one falls. Either. Solomon looked at two people and figured both of them were going down at some point.
- You are comparing your inside to everybody else's outside. You saw the outside of all three of those kids and have never seen the inside.
- Elijah called fire down out of the sky in front of a whole crowd, and a day later he was under a bush asking God to just be done with him. Same guy, same week.
- One safe grown-up, one true sentence: that thing scares me. That is the whole assignment.
