Questions Kids Ask

What does the prodigal son story mean?

It is a story Jesus told about a son who asked for his inheritance early, wasted it far from home, and ended up so hungry he was feeding pigs. When he walked home hoping to be taken on as a hired servant, his father saw him from far away and ran to hug him before he could even finish his apology (Luke 15:20). It means God's grace does not wait for us to clean up first; He welcomes us home as sons and daughters.
