Questions Kids Ask

Why did the father run to the prodigal son?

In Bible times, respected older men did not run, because it meant lifting your robe and losing dignity in public. But the father ran anyway, reaching his son before the village could pile on shame, hugging and kissing him before the apology was finished (Luke 15:20). Jesus told it that way to show that God does not wait for us at a distance; He runs toward us.
