What If I'm Too Scared to Even Try?

Hey Carpool Crew, welcome back to Questions from the Backseat. Today's question is one a lot of you face and nobody else sees. What if I'm too scared to even try? That's a brave question, because admitting you're stuck is harder than pretending you never wanted it. Here's the answer. Brave isn't the whole thing. Brave is the next small piece of it. Joshua 1:9 says, "Haven't I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Read that last part again. Wherever you go. Not wherever you already are. You have to go somewhere for that promise to do anything. Here's how fear works. It only ever gives you one option, and it's always leave. Your stomach hurts. You suddenly need the bathroom. You decide you didn't really want it that bad anyway. Fear walks into a room with six doors and shows you one, and it's marked exit. So stop looking at the whole thing. Look at the next piece. Not the audition. Just walking into the room. Not the whole report. Just standing up. Not the deep end. Just the ladder. You are not going to feel ready. Ready isn't coming. But you can do one small piece feeling exactly the way you feel right now. Here's your One Thing today. Brave isn't the whole thing. Brave is the next small piece of it. Today, take the thing you've been avoiding and say the smallest first piece of it out loud. Then go do only that piece. Not the rest. Just that.
