What Is the Gospel? A Kid-Friendly Answer

Hey, Carpool Crew, it's Questions from the Backseat. I'm Pastor Justin and today we're going to answer a really important question. What is the gospel? Let me ask you, have you ever heard the word 'gospel' and wondered what it actually means? You might hear pastors say things like 'share the gospel' or 'preach the gospel.' So what does that word mean? The word gospel simply means good news. And the good news is this: Jesus came to save us. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians chapter 15, verses 3 and 4, that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and arose again on the third day. That's the heart of the gospel. Here's the simple version. We all sin and make wrong choices, but God loves us so much that he sent Jesus. Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins, and then he rose from the grave so we could have new life with him. That is the good news. That's the gospel. Sometimes the Bible calls it the good news, the good news of the Kingdom, or the message of salvation. They all mean the same thing. You can see that in the book of Mark chapter 1, verse 15, when Jesus says, 'Repent and believe the good news.' Now, you might wonder, should I share the gospel too? Yes, anyone who follows Jesus can share the good news. You can tell your friends what Jesus has done and why he matters in your life. So remember, the gospel is the best news ever. Jesus loves us, died for our sins, and came back to life so we can follow him forever. That is what is the gospel. Another question from the backseat.
