Hey, Carpool Crew. I'm Pastor Justin, and maybe you're headed to school or finishing up breakfast, getting ready for co-op, or just hanging out on the couch before homeschool starts. I'm really glad you're here. So you know that moment when the teacher says, "Who wants to go first?" And the whole room goes quiet, and everyone looks at their desks, and nobody wants to do it. Well, let's jump in with the one thing that I want you to remember for the ride. Brave puts one foot in first. Listen to this from Joshua 3:15. "But as soon as the priests carrying the ark reached the Jordan, Their feet touch the water at its edge." Now, here's what's going on. God's people need to cross the Jordan River to get to the land God promised them, and it's harvest season when the Jordan overflows its banks. God tells Joshua that when the priests carrying the ark step into the water, the water will stop. Now, look at that order. The water didn't stop first. The priests' feet touched the water first. Then the water flowing down stood still, And the whole nation walked across on dry ground. God could have stopped the river before anyone got wet. He didn't. He asked someone to step in first, and then He did what only He could do. That's what going first is like. No one knows it's safe until someone goes, and when God asks you to step in, He's the one who takes care of the river or whatever you're doing. See, maybe it's raising your hand first. Maybe it's being the first one to show off the new football or jujitsu skill that you learned in front of the class or the team. Maybe it's being the first kid to sit with the new kid or the first one to pray out loud at dinner, at your dinner table. Hey, this week there could be a lot of new things that you have the opportunity to be the first one to do. So try this. Go first one time, just once. If the hard part is raising your hand, put it up while the teacher is still talking. Before you have time to talk yourself out of it, And right before, you can say, "God, I'll put my foot in You do the rest." Hey, let's go back to the one thing I want you to remember for the ride. Brave puts one foot in first. Remember, no matter where you are or how you're listening, God loves you. And parents, if this podcast has been helpful for your family, would you take 30 seconds and leave a rating or review on Apple or Spotify? Or you could just send a link over to a friend. We'd really appreciate it. Now, before you go, let's answer this question together. When was a time somebody else going first made it easier for you? I'll see you tomorrow on a new episode of Carpooling with Jesus.
