The Day a Chariot of Fire Took Elijah to Heaven

Hey, Carpooling with Jesus family. I'm so glad you're tuning in. Could you imagine if Jesus was spending time with you right before you went off to school? Maybe you're heading to practice or a game, maybe you're heading to a recital or just spending time at home before school starts. I would love to open the Bible with you and discover some wisdom and advice that Jesus might give for you as you start your day. I am Pastor Justin, and today we're gonna talk about something that you would only believe in your imagination, but it actually happened in the Bible. Now, picture this, you're walking with your best friend and suddenly a chariot of fire comes down from the sky and takes someone up to heaven. That sounds wild. Well, it actually happened and we're talking about it today. Here's the one thing for the ride I want you to remember. God's power is beyond anything we can imagine. Let's take a look at a verse that Jesus would've learned about when He was a kid. It comes from Second Kings chapter two, verse 11. That's in the Old Testament. As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. Yep, that's right. A chariot of fire, pulled by horses of fire. Elijah was taken straight to heaven. No spaceship, no elevator, just God's incredible power on full display. Elijah had spent his whole life serving God, speaking truth, doing miracles, standing strong, and when it was time for his journey to end, God did something amazing to bring him home to heaven. This wasn't just flashy. It was a reminder that God is in total control. Put yourself in this moment. What would you do if you saw something that completely unexpected, like a chariot of fire flying through the sky? You'd never forget it, right? That's the kind of power God has. He doesn't just do ordinary things. He does beyond what we can even imagine. So let's talk about this in real life. One time I saw something that reminded me of God's incredible power. A huge thunderstorm rolled in. Wind, lightning, rain pounding everything. It felt really scary, and I'm an adult. I was still scared, but after the storm, the clouds parted and this giant rainbow lit up the sky. It was God showing us the reminder that He'll never destroy the earth like He did with Noah and the Ark. Just like the fiery chariot for Elijah, that rainbow was a reminder that God is powerful and keeps His promises. He's always working, even through the storm, because He loves us and He wants us safe. So today, remember this, God's power is real and it's bigger than anything we face. He had a plan for Elijah, and He has a plan for you.
