It's day three of Proverbs for Your School Life, and today we're talking about that moment when two of your friends are mad at each other, they're both looking at you, and your brain just goes blank. I'm Pastor Justin, and before we jump in, let me give a big shout-out to Emilio out in Chicago, Illinois. Emilio, I'm so glad you're riding with us today. And this episode is all about what to do when you have no idea what to do. We've all been there. Let's jump in with the one thing I want you to remember for the ride: five seconds: God, give me wisdom. Listen to this from Proverbs 2:6. "For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding." Look at that word right after LORD. Gives. Not sells it. Not saves it for the kid with the best report card. Gives it. When Solomon became king, he was young, and the job was huge. One night God told him, ask Me for anything. Anything! A mountain of gold. A stable full of the fastest horses. And Solomon, probably still feeling like a kid sitting in his dad's big chair, asked God to make him wise enough to lead well. God said yes on the spot. The wisest man who ever lived didn't start wise. He started by asking. If Jesus were sitting next to you in the car right now, He would say, "When your friends both turn and look at you today, you don't have to have the answer ready. Ask My Father. Five seconds is enough. He loves giving wisdom to kids who ask for it." It's Thursday at recess. Your two best friends had a blow-up over the football game, and now they're standing at opposite ends of the blacktop, and both of them want you to pick their side. Your stomach knots up. One kid picks a side fast, just to make it stop, and now two people are mad instead of one. Another kid stands there and prays five seconds in his head. God, give me wisdom for this. Nobody hears it. But he walks over calmer and says, "I'm not picking sides. You're both my friends." By Friday, all three of them are back at the same lunch table. So today, here's the one thing you could try. Right before the hardest moment of your day, the test, the tryout, the two mad friends, pray five seconds. Borrow these exact words: "God, give me wisdom for this." In your head is fine. Nobody even has to know. God's not grading the prayer. He just loves that you asked. Hey, let's go back to that one thing I wanted you to remember for the ride. Five seconds: God, give me wisdom. Remember, no matter where you are or how you're listening, God loves you. And parents, you probably know another parent whose kid is walking into a tricky friend thing or a big test this week.
