You Were Never Meant to Do Life Alone

Hey, carpool crew, whether you're walking with a friend, at camp, or just hanging out with your dog in the backyard. I'm Pastor Justin, and I'm so glad you're here. Today's episode is all about not going through life alone. It's about having someone by your side when you fall, when you fail, or when you just feel down, and being that someone for somebody else. Because guess what? God never meant for us to do life by ourselves. Let's take a look at Ecclesiastes chapter four, verses nine through 10. That's from the Old Testament. Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up. The book of Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon, who is full of wisdom and had seen a lot of life. He was reflecting on what really matters and what's just noise. In this part of the book, Solomon was saying, you know what actually makes life better? Having someone with you, someone who helps you when you fall, someone to walk beside you. And here's the thing, falling doesn't mean tripping over your shoelaces, although that happens too. It can also mean feeling discouraged, making a mistake, getting left out, just having a hard day. God designed us for community, and that starts with learning to show up for each other when things get tough. What would Jesus say if you were with us right now? He'd probably say something like, you were never meant to do this alone, and I've given you people to walk with. Jesus spent his whole ministry with others. He had 12 disciples. He shared meals. He prayed with his friends, and when someone was hurting or struggling, he didn't ignore them. He lifted them up. Jesus is the kind of friend who shows up when we fall, and he wants us to be that kind of friend too. So how can you help someone this week? When a friend feels left out, invite them in. Even a simple, hey, you want to play with us, can mean everything. When someone messes up, don't laugh or point fingers. Be the one who says, it's okay. I've been there too. When your sibling is struggling, help them. Encourage them. Remind them they're not alone, even if they get on your nerves sometimes. And if you're the one who falls, don't be afraid to ask for help. Let someone know you need a hand. It's not weak to need others. It's wise, because like Solomon said, two are better than one. And Jesus is always walking with you too, and he made you to be someone who helps others up and lets others help you too. Remember, no matter where you are or how you're listening, God loves you.
