Trusting God Instead of Yourself With Every Decision

Whether you’re already thinking about lunch on the ride to school or enjoying a chocolate chip muffin at the kitchen table — I’m Pastor Justin, and I’m so glad you’re here.

For Parents

Your child hits a moment where they're sure they already know the best way to handle a friendship, a joke, or how far they can push a rule. This episode unpacks Proverbs 3:5-6 and invites kids to trust God like a GPS instead of just their own thinking. At home, ask your child about one decision they're facing this week and pray over it together. Pastor Justin shares a warm memory of memorizing these verses with his own mom and points kids to Jesus, who told His disciples simply, follow me.

The One Thing for the Ride

Instead of trusting our own brain with every decision, we can trust God to guide us like a GPS through all our ways.

Questions Kids Ask

What does it mean to trust God instead of leaning on your own understanding?

It means not trying to be the boss of your own life, because God sees more and can lead you better. The Bible says trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding, and in all your ways know him and he will make your path straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). Think of it like following someone who already knows the skate park lines so you avoid the wipeouts. When you do not know what to do, do not fake it, just pray and follow him.
