Self-Control Is Your Superpower

You know that Saturday morning moment when one show ends, the next one starts automatically, and somehow two hours disappear? Yeah. Today we’re talking about self-control. Here’s the one thing I want you to remember for the ride: **Self-control is your city wall.** Proverbs 25:28 says, “A person who does not control his temper is like a city whose wall is broken down.” Back in Bible times, a city wall was a big deal. It protected the people, their homes, their food, and everything inside. If the wall was broken down, anything could come right in. Solomon says that’s what life is like without self-control. Autoplay walks in and takes your whole morning. Anger walks in and takes over your mouth. That extra snack walks in... and then somehow the whole bag is gone. Self-control is the wall that says, “Nope. You don’t get to run things around here.” But here’s the trick: **build the wall before you need it.** Jesus taught His followers to think ahead before building something. You count the cost before you start. So before you press play, decide: “Two episodes, then I’m done.” Say it out loud. Because when episode two ends and that little countdown starts... 5... 4... 3... You’ve already made the decision. You don’t have to decide again. You just follow the limit you already set. So here’s your one thing for this weekend: **Pick one thing to control. Your screen, your snacks, or your mouth. Then set the limit out loud before you start.** And yes, grown-ups need this too. My phone can testify.
