Hey, Carpool Crew. Welcome to Carpooling with Jesus. I'm Pastor Justin. Happy Saturday. This episode is free for everyone today because it's Halloween. This is a big day, and there's some stuff worth talking about. So you know how we've talked about 30 different scary things this month, and somewhere in there, one of them was yours. Well, let's jump in with the one thing I want you to remember for the ride. Name it, then go away. Now, listen to this from John 16:33. Jesus says, "You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous. I have conquered the world." Okay, here's what's going on. This is the night before Jesus died. He's with His disciples, and He's telling them what's gonna happen, and He's honest with them. "You will have suffering in this world." He doesn't say, "You might," He says, "You will." Then He says, "Be courageous." And then He tells them why, "Because I've conquered the world." See, look at that order. Jesus names the hard thing that's happening, then He says, "Be brave and courageous about it." Then the reason to be brave isn't that the hard thing goes away, it's that He already won. That's why we can be brave. And later that same night, Jesus went to the garden and prayed. He asked His Father if there was any way the hard thing could pass Him over, and He wouldn't have to do it. He said it out loud, and then He got up and went away anyway, and went and did exactly what He knew He was gonna do, die on the cross. Now, that's this whole month in one story. Brave was never the part where the scared leaves. Brave is naming it and going anyway because Jesus is with you, and He has already won. So here's what I want you to do right now in the car, or at the table, or on the couch out loud. One, name the one that still is yours, the one thing you're still scared of, the real thing. Say it to whoever is driving or whoever is sitting at the table with you. Number two, pick your move. And you've got all the moves now. You can tell someone what you're scared of and use your words and tell them exactly what it is. And you can pray and say, "God, you're with me. Even when I'm scared, I'm not alone." Or just do the next small thing. That's one of my favorite moves. You don't need the whole story. You don't need to have it all figured out. You just do the next thing, even if it's small, if you're frozen, if you don't know what to do. Tell the truth about how big it is, and then tell the truth about how big God is. Count who's actually with you, and if you feel like you're alone, remember that you're not. Remember that there's others with you. Ask if the fear is helping you. If you can't tell which kind it is, well, it might be one that's not helping you. And remember that God gives you enough for today. If it lives in tomorrow, don't worry about tomorrow. Enjoy every bit of today. Or go anyway. Still shaking a little bit if you already know what to do. It might be scary, but that's okay. Three, do it before you go to bed tonight. Hey, let's go back to the one thing I want you to remember for the ride. Name it, then go anyway. Remember, no matter where you are or how you're listening, God loves you. And parents, two things real quick. Tonight and tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, Good Night Psalms is free for everybody on Apple and Spotify. And guess what? It's free every weekend. And just so you know, I listed all those moves in the show notes. You can go back and look at them. I hope you have an incredible day. I hope you have an incredible night.
