Hey, Carpool Crew! Happy Monday! Welcome to the final week of Proverbs for Your School Life. Three days left! And we’re finishing by learning what it looks like to trust God with the whole school year. Today we’re talking about two words that can stop you from learning something new: **“I know.”** Or maybe the slightly more annoying version... **“I know, I know!”** I’m Pastor Justin, and first, a big shout-out to Grayson and Josie in Jackson, Missouri! So glad you’re starting the week with us. Here’s the one thing I want you to remember: **Let somebody show you a better way.** Proverbs 3:7 says, “Don’t be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.” Being wise in your own eyes means thinking you already have all the answers. And that’s a problem. Because **the moment you decide you have nothing left to learn is the moment you stop growing.** “I know, I know” might sound confident. But sometimes it’s just a locked door with good advice standing outside. Even when Jesus was twelve years old, the Bible tells us He sat with the teachers in the temple, **listening and asking questions.** There’s nothing weak about listening. There’s nothing embarrassing about asking. Wise people know how to learn. Imagine you’re at basketball practice. Your free throws keep hitting the front of the rim. CLANG. CLANG. CLANG. Coach walks over. “Can I show you something about your elbow?” And you can feel it coming... “I know, I know.” But this time, you stop yourself. Hand him the ball and say three words: **“Okay, show me.”** He changes your elbow. It feels weird. Your next shot might even be worse. That doesn’t mean the advice was bad. Sometimes learning a better way feels awkward at first. But you keep practicing. And pretty soon... SWISH. Here’s something I’ve had to learn too: good advice can’t help you if you won’t let it in. So here’s your one thing for today: **The next time somebody tries to teach you something, let them finish. Then actually try what they showed you.** Your coach. Your teacher. Your mom or dad. Instead of “I know, I know,” try three different words: **“Okay, show me.”** Those three words can teach you a lot. Let’s go back to the one thing I want you to remember: **Let somebody show you a better way.** Remember, no matter where you are or how you’re listening, God loves you.
